Campus Student Transition Guidelines

Please understand that these transition guidelines are just that, guidelines. Each campus is unique in course offerings per semester and special nuances that might emerge in the suggested academic plan. As always, it is best to speak with your assigned academic adviser to get advice on scheduling, entrance to major requirements, the change of campus process, and general degree planning.


For Students Starting SP 18 or earlier (CMPSC 121 or 201 ONLY)

Students transitioning to University Park after their 4th semester should have passing grades in the following courses prior to their first semester at University Park:

  • MATH 140 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • MATH 141 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • MATH 250 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • CHEM 110 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • PHYS 211 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • PHYS 212 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • CMPSC 201 (CMPSC 121 or CMPSC 131 also accepted)
  • CMPEN 270 or CMPEN 271/275 (grade of C or better required)
  • EE 210 (grade of C or better required)

Students transitioning to University Park should ideally have the following courses completed by the end of their first semester at University Park:

  • EE 200
  • EE 310 (grade of C or better required)
  • Any one of EE 330, EE 340, or EE 350 (grade of C or better required in each)
  • MATH 220
  • MATH 230
  • PHYS 213
  • PHYS 214

In order to graduate in four years, students transitioning to University Park must have the following courses completed by the end of their first semester at University Park:

  • EE 210 (grade of C or better required)
  • CMPEN 270 or CMPEN 271/275 (grade of C or better required)
  • CMPSC 201 (CMPSC 121 or CMPSC 131 also accepted)

For Students Starting SU18 and beyond (CMPSC 121 and 122)

Students transitioning to University Park after their 4th semester should have passing grades in the following courses prior to their first semester at University Park:

  • MATH 140 (Entrance to Major Requirement) (grade of C or better required)
  • MATH 141 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • MATH 250 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • CHEM 110 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • PHYS 211 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • PHYS 212 (Entrance to Major Requirement)
  • CMPSC 121 or 131
  • CMPSC 122 or 132
  • CMPEN 270 or CMPEN 271/275
  • EE 210

Students transitioning to University Park should ideally have the following courses completed by the end of their first semester at University Park:

  • EE 200
  • EE 310
  • Any one of EE 330, EE 340, or EE 350
  • MATH 220
  • MATH 230
  • PHYS 214

In order to graduate in four years, students transitioning to University Park must have the following courses completed by the end of their first semester at University Park:

  • EE 210 (grade of C or better required)
  • CMPEN 270 or CMPEN 271/275 (grade of C or better required)
  • CMPSC 121 or CMPSC 131

 
 

About

The Engineering Advising Center (EAC) serves as the academic advising resource for students in pre-major status (ENGR) at University Park. Once students have been admitted to a College of Engineering major, they will be assigned to a faculty adviser in that major.
