Holistic Entrance to Major Review

For students who are intending an enrollment-controlled major in the College of Engineering but do not meet the traditional entrance-to-major requirements, they may be able to request a Holistic Review of their Student Record. Please click on your current or previous premajor status to determine your eligibility to apply.

Important considerations:

  • Students will only be able to file one request for one major.
  • Be aware that you will not receive a decision until several weeks into the next semester. It will be too late at that point to adjust your upcoming class schedule, so this is why parallel planning with your adviser is important.
  • All students will receive an email to their Penn State account once the college has completed the review of your request. Any questions can be directed to your adviser.
  • While many students will likely apply, only a few will be granted an exception to enter their major. You are required to have a parallel plan in place and should be scheduling upcoming classes based on that plan. You are encouraged to work with your adviser as they may be able to help you choose courses that would work for both majors.

Because of the expected timing of reviews, if you are granted an exception to enter your major, it could delay your graduation.
