Holistic Entrance to Major Review

Please review the following criteria for students intending an enrollment-controlled major. If you meet ALL criteria, you may submit your request for a Holistic Entrance to Major Review here. If you do not meet the criteria below, please reach out to your adviser to review your options.

Students currently in or previously in ENGR_PMAJ or DUS_PMAJ

Criteria

  • If you are a transfer student (TRN), please review ENTRN_PMAJ criteria
  • You must have completed at least 40 Penn State graded credits (transfer credits do NOT count)
  • You must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.6
  • You must be out of the credit window or lack a pathway to declare your major at the close of this semester – Holistic Entrance to Major reviews cannot be filed proactively “just in case.” If there is still the possibility that you may follow the traditional pathway to declaring your major, you do not qualify.
  • If you have previously been reviewed, you are not eligible to resubmit a new request

Students currently in or previously in ENTRN_PMAJ

Criteria

  • You must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.6
  • If you have previously been reviewed, you are not eligible to resubmit a new request

Students currently in ENALT_PMAJ or a different Penn State College

Criteria

  • Students admitted to the College of Engineering in ENALT_PMAJ status are not eligible for an enrollment-controlled major and, therefore not able to submit a request for a Holistic Entrance to Major Review. You are encouraged to reach out to your adviser for additional options
  • Only students in the College of Engineering or Division of Undergraduate Studies have the ability to request a holistic review through the portal. For those students who's parallel plan is in another Penn State college, requests should be submitted prior to changing your major. Once you have submitted, you are free to update your major to one outside of the the College of Engineering
